Have been carrying the Compact PCR for several years, awesome bit of pistol, in fact, the CZ line is what weaned me from my decade of Compact 1911 pistol. Overall: * * * * 1/2 CZ Rifles are also pretty darned amazing right out of the box. The CZ is really excellent pistol. I have a full size CZ-75, the decocker model, what I used in IPSC competition for several years. Its time for CZ to do a very minor update to the 75’s…a larger ejection port, and as noted above, some grip texturing to the front and back of the frame are in order at this point. Great review, One recommendation I can make is to put the CZ brand rubber grips on the gun, it really makes this handgun a treat to shoot. of ~2.5 lbs, DA ~5lbs, a LOP about half of the stock LOP, a SA break at ~2mm and a reset at just under 1mm. Good review of a good gun. I have an older CZ-75. In standard CZ fashion, the slide rails ride inside the frame, in contrast to most semi-automatic handguns. Yep. As for “compact models” all steel construction is, in my view, still preferable, the weight difference seems insignificant. So, are you saying that all reviewers should buy 5 or 10 of the same gun before making a review? I really wish they would make an alloy frame version. So why don’t you put on a badge and show us how it’s done,,,,. The basic design is accurate especially in the full size model but not the compact as the sighting radius is just to damn short. Single-action was a much more comfortable (not to mention shorter) 5.5 lbs. Not a plus if you have to do it out in the field, as you may never get the damn slide off the gun unless you really get pissed and use a rock. That’s right, we had more than one malfunction for every magazine we fired using factory 9mm Magtech ammunition that we use in every other gun we test without a problem. Lining up the mark is key, but I can usually do it just by feel. The CZ is the better of the two. 5. Again you need to understand everybody doesn’t have a pocketful of money to buy the brand name expensive weapons. Aesthetics: * * * * The first issue I had was failure to reset. We also liked the color options – we purchased a bright orange frame with a stainless steel slide because we thought that the CPX, as a budget gun, might be a great gun to pack away in an emergency kit and the high visibility and corrosion resistance might come in handy. They were from Spain and traded heavily on that fact due to Spain’s history of producing quality steel. Its a great concealed carry. PCR. you can get the cz and the eaa witness clones in sa only but i dont know if anyone still sells the kits. We sent our guns in to get checked out and fixed because of the jamming issue and they sent them back and said it was fixed. Took it back to the range and went through two full clips and didn’t have any problems at all. The long double action trigger pull weight measured a stout 11.25 lbs. CZ sells a rubber shoe that slides on the base plate of the regular magazines. I am fond of the older CZ’s. Make sure you have good dental insurance. And this SCCY 9MM is just that. The gun is more concealable because the slide is shorter but way less accurate do to the shorter sighting radius. The pistol also has a passive firing pin block safety. Realized then that my grip was part of the problem as well as a break-in period to seat the parts. As you know we were not fans of the SCCY CPX! IWI makes a clone also. But to be fair gun fights most often take place at only a few feet and if you get hauled in front of a jury for blasting away at someone 25 yards away try explaining that to a non gun owning average jury who falls into a dead faint when anyone even mentions a handgun and who will also think you should have taken cover or run away as they know little about real life gun fights. Great solution my butt. And then I finally picked up a CZ 75 Compact. Semi-autos in the $700-$900 range. Those plastic grip panels won’t win any beauty contests, but they’re easy enough to swap out. Update: If you own a Glock do not panic Glock actually had 3 length slide rails before they finally got it right so supposedly this problem is now cured and remember to call it an upgrade not a recall because you might hurt Glock’s feelings in regards to their guns not really being perfect. Shooters like me with small hands who may have had to stretch to reach the full-size CZ 75’s bang switch won’t have a problem with the CZ 75 Compact’s length of pull. I have three of this they all run GREAT!!!!!! it would be a shame if this company that listens to its consumers would fail because of a rocky start. There’s very little you can’t change on a CZ. I have a SP-01 Shadow and my wife has a P-01 – the size is the same as if you hacked off the front and the bottom of the grip. My SP01 is flipping incredible. I hope we give sccy a chance to correct this most important problem. We’re talking small. That’s crap. i tell myself the slide in frame contributes to rigidity and accuracy. At first glance, the SCCY CPX-2 handgun looks like it could be a strong candidate for those looking for a cheaper option when it comes to handguns. I replaced this piece of trash with a custom stainless steel rod which you can use on this pistol because the frame is steel. That is almost the same style gun and it has served me well. There is no pressure on it whatsoever. heavier than everybody elses glock, and nice enough to actually want to show it off to your friends.. TriStar will accept CZ aftermarket grips with minor work with a small file. It is WAY too common to read reviews that say every product is amazing. I went with the P01 model to compliment my SIG P220’s DA/SA functionality, and I can shoot rings around the 220 with the CZ. Factor in the cost of the reloading gear and that I shoot about 2-3k 9mm a year, that means it would take at least 3 years before I saw a savings. It fits better in my hand, is more reliable (teething issues with JHP in the 220 that seem to be resolved), and I find that I can hit much better with the CZ. The trigger is horrible as well. The Czech pistols are time-tested, well-made, ultra-reliable and reasonably priced. Oh well. They shoot well….very well. Sounds like good old capitalism to me. Since then I have had zero problems with either FTF or FTE. I have a CZ-75 Compact and it is by far the easiest gun I have to take down for cleaning. Lots of pleasing angles and swoops. It’s lighter (aluminum frame) and uses a decocker in lieu of a separate safety. Go on CZ website, decide what model you are interested in, Google the SKU number, which is 5 digits, like ZIP Codes, so add CZ and the model to get more refined results. It feels very secure in the hand and it’s very accurate. By keeping up with the maintenance, it helps extend the life of the firearm! Changing and/or tuning any of these parts even in the slightest bit can make an exponentially humongous difference in LOP, trigger weight, smoothness, and reset. The slide is difficult to grab a hold of in an emergency because like all CZ 75 type guns the slide is tucked into the frame rather than the standard opposite way of fitting a slide to a frame ala 1911 Colt. Functionally it was completely reliable, and like most firearms, it could shoot at least as straight, likely straighter, than I could hold. Until recently, all metal guns did have a big advantage over plastic pistols in the fitting department because a big guy/gal could put thick grips on his/her pistol, and a smaller guy/gal could opt for thin ones. If the gun were mine, I’d probably give it a pair of nicely textured G10 grips. I’ve never had a misfire on either pistols. What we didn’t like: This is the worst trigger we’ve shot on a handgun – especially one that is supposed to be for ccw/defensive shooting. People complained about the external safety, sccy took it off. The double action pull like most double action pulls is long and heavy and only to be used at point blank blaster range of a few feet if that. With the smaller Lokgrips it fits my smallish hands perfectly. I can plink at a 4” steel circle at 20yds all day with my CZ, (or the “5×5 Drill” in 4 seconds), and I don’t consider myself “wicked good”. STAY AWAY from this one! i used to do a bunch of conversions to single action only with the cz kits on the cz and all of the clones. Yes the double action trigger is long, just as any double action revolver the trigger is long hence no safety. And, because it is so weak, we could easily see a bit fo dirt/grime giving enough resistance to prevent the weak trigger return spring from doing its job. I haven’t met anyone with smaller hands. Trigger isn’t the greatest but acceptable for someone used to using a double action revolver. It needed a trip to the smith to adjust the rear sight a bit, but now it is much more accurate than my plastic fantastic. It’s been chopped in both length and height. I have confidence that they’ll make things better. i bought the eaa clone instead of the cz because i just cant stand painted on finishes on guns. Personally I like the sccy, you were biased from the start insinuating that you are giving a free review. The CZ 75 Compact won’t let you down in the accuracy department. Never fired a CZ75 but have always admired the engineering and mfg. If you seriously want to carry something get something else. I just purchased the P226, so given time, I’m sure my accuracy will improve. While the standard black finish isn’t anything special, the gun is nicely and cleanly finished with no tooling or chatter marks, inside or out. Some might accuse Taurus of crossing PT111 G2 out and writing G2C in crayon, and that’s exactly what happened. Its usable and the weight of pull is not bad but the creepy pull does not give you the best accuracy at the range. You should be writing food reviews on yelp. I’d much rather have a decocker model over a safety. It is super easy to “short stroke” this trigger by not allowing it to return all the way forward. I ended up getting a H&K P30SK (compact) unfortunately the gun only holds 11 shots which is its only draw back. This gun has one of the longest trigger reaches of any high capacity pistol I have ever owned as I can just reach the trigger and I have long fingers. And worst case it might be about 6 or 7 years worth of shooting. it may. The current complaint now is the most important – unreliable. The first couple of mags fired well. The Compact trigger is not as good as an M&P Shield or a G43. After that it started jamming. At any price point, a gun should not sacrifice its basic purpose: to provide the shooter with a safe and and reliable way to fire a gun. If you like the CZ75 Compact, try it’s sister the CZ75 Compact BD PCR (Police Czech Republic). The is an excellent carry pistol. The CZ 75 Compact has a frame-mounted manual safety lever on the left side only. It’s cheap, but it doesn’t work. The CZ points well but has a high bore axis reducing recovery time between shots and a heavy double action first shot pull and a short sighting radius and a gritty single action pull. CZ makes great guns but the back and forth here is funny to me. Despite the bad trigger, there is another major problem with the SCCY pistol we tested: it wouldn’t function for more than a couple rounds in a row! The rubber’s fit neatly against the butt of the pistol. I have owned this same model for years. If you simply reverse the rails so they ride outside the frame instead of inside the bore axis is not affected. The reliability is on par with Republican senators on gun control. I have a couple! Reliability: * * * * * The only way we could get the trigger to reset was to completely remove our finger from the trigger after every shot. It easily attaches to your SCCY.
